The Isle of Skye may not be the first place that comes to mind as the location of extraterrestrial activity, but that’s all about to change thanks to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.

Starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron, Prometheus takes us on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe as clues to the origins of mankind are found on Earth.

Filming for Prometheus took place in the Highlands of Scotland in 2011, when members of the cast and crew travelled to Skye and Rannoch Moor for the shoot.

The Highlands of Scotland Film Commission was contacted by the production team who were keen to find suitable remote locations. We provided them with a number of suggestions that would fit the script’s demands and assisted in organising the standard permits and permissions required for filming.

Prometheus is out in UK cinemas on 1 June 2012.
