General Information on Getting to The Highlands and Islands of Scotland

Communications to and from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland are first class with excellent road, rail and air services available.  London is only one hour's flying time away from Inverness, our Highland capital, and elsewhere there are smaller airports.  A number of helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft charter companies, all with experience of location filming operate within the area.

Mainline rail services run from London, Aberdeen and through most of the main cities in the UK to Inverness and the North and West.  There is a road bridge to Skye and regular ferry and plane services to Orkney, the Outer Hebrides and Shetland.  Road Systems in the area are excellent.

Weather conditions throughout the Highlands and Islands are generally favourable although they vary according to location.  In the summer months we are favoured with exceptionally long periods of daylight.  And, since the Highlands and Islands on the whole are not heavily industrialised, there is no atmospheric pollution; the quality of light, for filming purposes, is considered to be excellent.
