The Highlands and Islands Film Commission funding policy.

The Highlands and Islands Film Commission does not currently operate any funds for the direct support of Film and television projects.

We do assist with advice and information locating cast, crew and facilities in the area and provide a limited amount of funding on a discretionary basis for recces.

SCOTTISH SCREEN

Scotland's national film body offers a variety of funding initiatives covering short films, documentaries, web-based material, writing courses and production funding for features.

THE SCOTTISH ARTS COUNCIL

The SAC has a number off grants available to filmmakers to help meet the organisation's remit of increasing participation in the arts, supporting artists in Scotland to fulfil their creative and business potentials and placing the arts, culture and creativity at the heart of learning.

CINEWORKS

Cineworks is Scotland's entry level short film funding scheme, commissioning five films each year in the fields of drama, documentary and animation.

THE SOUTHWEST SCOTLAND SCREEN COMMISSION

A small production fund (up to £5000) is available through this Commission, with a requirement that the majority of filming is done in the Dumfries & Galloway area.

THE UK FILM COUNCIL

A number of funds are available through the Film Council covering development, training, production and exhibition. Their website also has links to the English Screen Agencies who have their own production funds.

MEDIA

A six year European Union programme to strengthen the competitivness of European film, TV and new media industries and to increase the international circulation of European audiovisual product.

SHOOTING PEOPLE

An online network for Independent filmmakers, the site is subscription based but they publish a guide to UK film funding.
